So, if I did everything right, everyone’s feeds should automatically redirect over here. This is partially a test of that function, and partially a little blogwarming of sorts.
I’ve decided that since I decided to have a grown up blog, complete with a grown up, professionally designed header, that I should have a little party to celebrate.
Next week, while I’m in NYC at BlogHer, I’ll be celebrating my 33rd birthday. So, I also think there should be presents.
I’m not sure what yet. Perhaps some trinket from NYC, perhaps something fun I got at BlogHer. I’m not sure yet.
To win, leave a comment and tell me what you’ve always wanted to see in NY. If you’ve already been there, or you live there, tell me your favorite part. Also, your shirt size.
Mine has to be the street I lived on in Brooklyn. It had my apartment, with a yard (unheard of in NY), a meat market where I learned to eat steak, a green grocer where I learned about blood oranges and ramps, and a place that delivered me sushi and miso soup when I was sick.
Comments will go until midnight on my birthday, August 7th. I will draw a winner via random.org from the comments. I mean it about the shirt size. I intend to shop in NYC.
PS. I am still tweaking things a little bit around here. However, nothing gets me motivated to clean things up like guests, so I took the plunge.

Hmmm… never been, but I’d love to see the Statue of Liberty and Central Park. Have a wonderful time!
Just wonder if we will get some more of those photo headers, they were so nice. I like the new lettering but will miss the changing photo headers if they are gone.
Glad you made the move and NY sounds great. I always wanted to walk in Harlem and go to the churches which have played such significant parts of the civil rights movement, not to mention the music, poetry and art. That move you made in 2001 interrupted that adventure, but brought many others–thanks.
love you!!

Blog feed redirected just fine on my end, fyi. I loved visiting NYC. Only got to spend a few days there, but I’d go back soon. I loved getting fresh bagels with real strawberry cream cheese every morning, and I was really surprised by the vegan ice cream at Lula’s sweet apothecary. I’d love to go back again and visit, hopefully when I have a little more time and money. (Isn’t that always the case?)
Have a great time at BlogHer!
(And I wear a medium-large if it’s a women’s shirt, a small if it’s unisex.)

The new site looks great!! I’m a little jealous, truth be told.
A year before Otto was born, I got to visit my best friend from H.S. in NYC. He lived in Williamsburg and it was one of the best trips of my life. The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens were lovely, I rode the Staten Island Ferry and we saw the Metropolitan Museum of Art and took a long, leisurely walk through Central Park. We ate awesome sushi, had crazy cab drivers, saw a drag show, and partied hard.
My FAVORITE thing, however? Getting matching apple tattoos at a little tattoo shop near his apartment in Williamsburg. We did it on a whim, but its something I’ll never forget. Every time I see that little apple on my shoulder, I think of NYC and of my friend.
Have a TON OF FUN!!!!! (Shirt size M…you know, just in case I win
